Singles: Women’s 18-50, Women 50+, (Girls 12-18)/ Men’s 18-50, Men’s 50+, (Boys 12-18)

Tandem: Mixed 18-50, Mixed 50+, (Junior 12-18)


GENERAL INFORMATION
The course is a nine mile section of the James River. The starting line is directly in front of downtown Lynchburg with ample parking for racers and fans. The finish line is on Mt. Athos Rd also with ample parking for participants, spectators, and fans. The course itself is comprised of no more than class 1 rapid with several flat stretches of slack water. There are several shallow shoals and rocky areas at low water that racers will need to navigate.

COMPETITION FORMAT
All Male categories will launch simultaneously at 10:30 a.m. The Female categories will all launch together at 11:00 a.m. The tandem class will all launch together at 11:30 a.m. Race coordinators will be at the finish line to record placements in each division as they all cross the finish line. All boats should be on the water and ready to race 15 minutes before the start of their respective races.

RULES
All craft must be paddle powered, No Motors of any kind! Manufactured or handmade boats are accepted. Certified lifejacket must be worn at all times while on the water in relation to the race event. No consumption of Alcohol or Drugs before or during the event. Race officials have the right to disqualify any racer that has not met one or more of the afore mentioned requirements, including unsafe equipment.
