REGISTRATION CATEGORIES 
 
Divisions: 
Elite Division – competes for U.S. Nationals Floorball Championship

Rec Division – four brackets

  • Floorball Newbies
  • Challenger (Intermediate)
  • Seniors (50+)
  • Youth (age 13 and under)           

All teams in both divisions are co-ed
 
Floorball at the State Games of America will offer competition at the highest national level (Elite Division) and combine it with a fun, engaging competitive experience for players of all levels, including those trying it for the first time in the Rec Division.


Competition Format: 
Elite Division

  • Teams will play for the USA Floorball National Championship
  • Minimum age for participating players is 16
  • All teams are co-ed
  • USA Floorball membership required
  • Tournament Format
    • Round Robin Games on Saturday, Playoff Games on Sunday
    • Game guarantee depends on # teams registered (expect 4 game guarantee)
    • Teams are encouraged to participate in opening ceremonies
    • Tournament will follow IFF rules and USA Floorball Nationals requirements
      • Matching jerseys with player numbers
      • IFF approved sticks and equipment
      • Team manager must check in with rosters and verification of USA Floorball membership on Friday prior to the start of the tournament
    • All games played on an IFF regulation court
      • 2 certified referees per game
      • IFF regulation goals
      • 5 v 5 plus goalies
      • Roster limited to 20 players
      • 2 x 15 min periods, 10 min warmup, 5 min between periods for round robin games
      • 2 x 20 min periods, 10 min warmup, 5 min between periods for playoff games
      • Game duration and scheduling subject to change based on number of registered teams
  • International Teams/Players
    • Any team with more than 2 players who do not have a U.S. passport or are not domiciled in the United States will be considered an international team
    • International teams do not qualify to win the USA Championship.  Team record will count in tournament standings but USA Championship trophy will only be awarded to the winner of U.S. teams
  • Registration fees
    • $500 Early Bird Team Registration (before March 1st)
    • $600 Standard Team Registration (March 1st – May 31st)
    • $700 Late Team Registration (June 1st – July 10th deadline)
    • $70 Free Agent Registration
  • Elite Registration handled by USA Floorball web site
   

Rec Divisions
 
  • Floorball Newbies Division
  1. Adults and youth players 14 years and older with no floorball or stick sport experience
  2. Games played with genuine floorball boards and court area smaller than regulation
  3. 4 v 4 plus field player rotating through goalie position
  4. Small goals
  5. 2 x 10 min games, running time
  6. No prior experience required.  Two practice sessions for instruction/coaching will be scheduled prior to starting games
  7. Floorball sticks will be provided (sticks will also be available for purchase)
  8. Players wear T shirt, shorts, sneakers
  9. Individual registrations only
  10. Team assignments made prior to first practice.  Each team will have an assigned floorball coach for the tournament
 
  • Challenger Division
    • Players with some floorball experience or experience in other stick sports such as ice, floor, field, inline, or street hockey.
    • Adults and youth players 14 years and older
    • Team plays with or without goalie
      • With goalie – team defends large goal
      • Without goalie – team defends small goal (field player rotates through goalie position)
    • 4 v 4 plus goalie (or field player in goalie position)
    • 2 x 10 min games, running time
    • 1 practice session prior to tournament games (includes rules familiarization)
    • Players are expected to provide their own floorball stick (sticks available for purchase)
    • Players wear T shirt, shorts, sneakers
    • Team rosters 10 – 16 players
    • Register as team or individual player.  If your team is short players, we will assign players from the individual registered player pool.
 
  • Senior Division
    • Players 50 years old and older.
    • Game format similar to Newbies Division.
    • If there aren’t enough players/team registrations for 4 senior teams by March 31st, division will merge into the Newbie or Challenger Divisions.
 
  • Youth Division
    • Designed for all skill levels, including players that have never played floorball.
    • Youth players 13 years and younger
    • Two age groups
      • Ages 10-13
      • Ages 6-9
    • Game format and rules same as Challenger Division
    • 1 practice session prior to starting games
 
  • All teams in Rec Division are co-ed
  • IFF rules will be followed in the Rec Division EXCEPT sticks may be non IFF approved
  • Registration Fee for Rec Division
    • $300 Team
    • $65 Adult Individual
    • $40 Youth (under 14) Individual
    • Registration closes 7/10/19
