Southwest Recreation Complex
Iowa State University

+ Competition Information

Competition Format
7 versus 7. Games played to 9 points during round robin play, but may be played up to 13 in the playoffs. At the time-cap teams will complete the point they are on; if there is a tie, one more point will be played.

There will be two divisions for this tournament, competitive and recreational. The tournament format will depend on the number of teams that sign up for each division. If there is a low number of teams, we’ll have a pure round-robin tournament; otherwise we will have round robin pool play followed by a single-elimination tournament to determine medal winners. All teams will qualify for some level of single-elimination playoffs. Men and women play in the same division. 20 player roster limit will be enforced (no gender requirements). At the time of registration, teams must rank themselves from 1 to 10 with 1 being noncompetitive and 10 being most competitive. Please use the following as guidelines when considering your team’s self-ranking.

8-10: Most of the team’s (>50%) highest level of play is on USA Ultimate college and/or club teams
5-7: Most of the team’s (>50%) highest level of play is summer leagues intramural teams, and/or high school teams
3-4: Most of the team’s (>50%) highest level of play is pick-up or Iowa Games
1-2: Most of the team (>50%) has never played any organized Ultimate before

Generally speaking, teams that are ranked themselves 1-5 should be in the Recreational Division, and teams ranking themselves 6-10 are in the Competitive Division. Please be honest with your self-rankings (in both directions) so everyone (both your teams and your opponents) can have an enjoyable day.

Rules
USA Ultimate (USAU) 11th Edition Rules will apply. As always, Spirit of the Game should prevail for both players and spectators. Teams are responsible for their spectators. The Ultimate director and committee reserve the right to eject teams and/or their spectators if they do not follow the Spirit of the Game.
